The Sölden ski area is one of the most popular ski areas in the Alpine region - for good reason one of the best: thanks to the high altitude between 1,350 and 3,340 m, two glaciers and modern snowmaking systems, there is absolute snow reliability from autumn to spring. Our 31 mountain lifts (incl. two of the most powerful feeder lifts world-wide) provide access to 144 km of perfectly groomed slopes for all skill levels. The Sölden glacier ski area, comprising the two glaciers of Rettenbachferner and Tiefenbachferner, traditionally opens its doors in mid-September or early October. The ski season on Sölden's glacier lasts until late April or early May. The winter ski area of Sölden, on the other hand, opens its doors already in mid-November.  HERE you will find out which mountain lifts & gondolas, ski runs and ski huts are currently open.

In general, the first winter ski areas in Austria start the ski season at the end of November or the beginning of December. However, autumn skiing on the glacier starts earlier. For example, in Sölden's glacier ski area which kicks off the ski season as early as mid-September or early October. and is open until the beginning of May. Sölden's winter ski area, which is also connected to the glacier ski area by mountain lifts, opened its doors in the middle of November depending on the snow conditions. The Sölden ski area, comprising also the winter ski area and two glacier ski areas (which are connected to each other by mountain lifts), stretches between altitudes of 1350 and 3340 meters. The entire region boasts no less than 144 varied slope kilometers for all ability levels.

 It usually depends on the altitude at which the ski areas are located. In general: the higher, the longer are opening ties and seasons! In the two glacier ski areas of Sölden, Rettenbachferner and Tiefenbachferner, you can ski well into spring. Both glacier ski areas are even open until the beginning of May. Thanks to the high altitude beyond 3000 meters and absolute snow guarantee, there are excellent slope conditions even in late spring.
