The tour to Rettenbach glacier is certainly one of the most demanding mountain bike tours of the region. In 2005 the stage finishing at the top of the glacier was THE stage of the Tour of Germany. The glacier road (little traffic) leads right to the top. The road is one of the highest-lying roads of Europe and leads to the car park at the Pitztaler Jöchl at an altitude of 2,800m. The downhill ride leads through the new Golden Gate ski area, past Rotkogljoch hut (2,666m) and down to Gampe Alm hut and from there back to Sölden.
