The Sölden Almmarsch Pasture Hike I is an outstandingly beautiful loop hike amid the scenic Alpine pastures located east of the Ötztaler Ache brook (Stubaital Alps). First the trail climbs very steeply up to Stallwies Alm mountain hut and Kleble Alm mountain hut before you reach its highest point, the Laubkar area at 2320 m above sea level. The path continues along Windachtal valley down to Fiegls Gasthaus inn, leading past Lochle Alm mountain inn. From there, the route is a strenuous uphill climb to the Windach meadows, moderately towards Brunnerboden area and Zwieselstein. The descent down to Zwieselstein is again very steep. The last section of the trail takes you back to Sölden by walking across Kühtrainsclucht gorge and Moos area.

Sölder "Almmarsch" Pasture Hike II


Gaislach Almen (1.968 m)
The Sölden Almmarsch Pasture Hike II takes you to the pasturelands located west of the Ötztaler Ache brook. The steeply climbing path leads to Edelweißhütte mountain inn and is quite challenging for beginners and advanced. Following the path to Hochsölden right along the Alpine timerline you will notice that the change in elevation is minimal. Enjoy the stunning views of the Alpine scenery while walking towards Rettenbach Alm mountain inn and Gaislachkogl gondola's mid station until you reach Gaislachalm hut. The steeply descending path leads down to Ventertal valley and the little hamlet of Bodenegg. You return to Sölden via Zwieselstein and the scenic Kühtrainschlucht gorge.

TT Hiking Cup Route - 2000

The Gaislachkogl gondola whisks you up to the mid station where the trail leads northwards, along an asphalted road, to the top terminal of Mittelstation double chairlift. You hike past Gratlift double chairlift and turn right into footpath no. 146 after approx. 250 meters. Continue walking along the timerline and follow the E5 European long distance path. The slightly descending trail leads across outstanding stone pine forests to the base station of Wasserkar chairlift. At the trail fork, take the path no. 155 leading to Löple Alm mountain hut. Then turn right and follow the steeply climbing trail that takes you to Gasthof Sonneck inn (another 15 minutes). At Gasthof Sonneck you hike along the slightly ascending gravel trail towards Berghof Silbertal mountain inn and the lovely mountain huts of Gaislachalm area where the wonderful Alpine Ecology Trail starts. The gravel road takes you back to the trailhead next to Gaislachkogl gondola's mid station. Don't miss the breathtaking views and stunning vista of the surrounding mountain ranges, among them the Stubaital Alps.

TT Hiking Cup Route - 2001


Gampe Alm (1.980 m)
The Gaislachkogl gondola whisks you up to the mid station where you turn right immediately after you have left the building. Walk northwards past Gratlift double chairlift and turn left after approx. 300 meters. Simply follow the slightly climbing footpath by crossing the ski run and some lovely stone pine areas. You reach the panoramic Ötztal glacier road and walk along the road until you get to a bridge in immediate vicinity to Rettenbach Alm mountain inn. Right next to the hut you find a walking trail to Hochsölden. The change in elevation of this path is minimal. After approx. 30 minutes you arrive at Gasthof Sonnblick inn in hochsölden. Simply follow the ridge (to the right of the chairlift) and walk down towards Sölden. Just before you reach the wooden bridge and the asphalted road take the signposted forest trail leading to Gampe Alm pastureland. Walking past the rustic Gampe Thaya mountain hut you reach the trail to Rettenbachtal valley. Continue along the ski run to Stabele hut and -at the little bridge - turn right into the ascending trail to the panoramic Ötztal glacier road. Follow the road for about 150 meters by crossing the underpass. Turn left sharply and hike along the trail to Gaislachkogl mid station/Almstubn restaurant, the starting point of this tour.
