The hamlet of Burgstein, located on a scenic balcony above Längenfeld, is starting point for this hike, which, for large parts, travels along the Ötztal Mountain Bike Trail (identifiable by the road markings) from hamlet to hamlet. The trail descends to a road which you follow until it bends sharply to the right at approx. 1250 meters above sea level where you pick up the footpath to Huben. In Huben you cross the federal road and the river and continue into the valley on the footpath parallel to the river. Just before “MS Automobil” you head over to the right side of the river and cross the road a few minutes later. The trail contours along the valley and climbs gradually (barely noticeable) to Aschbach (in Bruggen do not follow the short diversion of the Mountain Bike Trail along the main road, instead continue your way Aschbach). In Aschbach the character of the tour changes: the road climbs steeply up a slope to some houses. At a junction keep to the left (Sölden 1 hr.), leaving the mountain trail. The road soon turns into a steep path which runs through sloping terrain and then climbs steeply. Cross River Atterbach – look out for the small waterfall – and continue along a road down to Kaisers. Follow the road to the right of Ötztaler Ache into the center of Sölden (alternatively you can take the bus into town; this will save you approx. 30 minutes of walking).
