FREERIDE-TIPPS: CHECK YOUR RISK!

Prepare yourself before you head off-piste:

• Inform yourself at the Freeride Center office about local snow and weather conditions.
• Never go off-piste without an avalanche safety set - no beep, no ride!
• Don't forget to turn on your beacon before you leave the groomers (the best thing is to turn it on in the morning and leave it going all day) and also check that it is actually sending and receiving.
• Save the rescue patrol number 140 (without a prefix) in your mobile.´

On the mountain:

• Watch out for any sudden weather changes, especially wind, fog and a rise in temperature.
• Never ride alone off-piste and watch out for your buddies.
• Try to avoid the steepest areas in a slope.
• Drop into a run at intervals so you have a generous distance between each other. Always ride steep slopes one at a time.
• Look out for safe areas to gather your group up again.
• Never just follow a track into the unknown and hope for the best. Tracks don't give you any indication of avalanche safety and you don't know where they may lead to.
