Sölden, Hochsölden, Zwieselstein & Vent

Charming holiday villages

Be it the Heartbeat of the alps or the secluded mountaineering village, the sunny swallow’s nest or narrow streets deeply rooted in history: Sölden and the surrounding villages of Hochsölden, Zwieselstein and Vent offer a wide range of impressions and experiences in the tightest of spaces. All destinations have a huge passion for the mountains in common. And hospitality that has been preserved for generations and is still refreshingly authentic.

Sölden, 1377 m

Heartbeat of the Alps

The classy Alpine village is also a perfect place to be for sports aficionados in Tirol's mountain summer. Accommodation for all pocket books, top infrastructures and an infinite variety of recreational opportunities are the basic ingredients for a truly exciting activity holiday.

Hiking, walking and mountaineering are popular with most summer guests. About 300 km of marked hiking trails crisscross forests, Alpine pasturelands and rock up to the three thousand meter high peaks. Even for mountain and downhill bikers these mountain slopes make a real paradise. 300 km of mountain bike routes and the revolutionary BIKE REPUBLIC Sölden offering natural trails, shaped flow trails and jump lines, promise both thrills and adrenalin boosts. Trails and lines of all difficulty levels, summer mountain lifts for effortless uphill rides and a host of iconic events make Sölden the top cycling destination in the Alps.

State-of-the-art summer mountain lifts west of Sölden whisk hikers and mountain bikers effortlessly to the top, opening up also such unique destinations as the 007 ELEMENTS James Bond Adventure World or the Almzeit theme hiking trail. All those who suffer from the heat are recommended to take the 13 km long Glacier Road leading to the eternal ice of Rettenbach and Tiefenbach Glaciers. In eastern Sölden’s Silent Part nature enthusiasts can walk “back to the roots” in a leisurely way, towards  traditional Alpine pastures and huts. After so much fresh air and action you are recommended to visit the spacious Freizeit Arena swimming and sauna center. Even in Sölden it’s allowed to relax now and then.

Hochsölden, 2090 m

Sunny swallow‘s nest

The lovely mountain summer shows its most quiet side from the vantage balcony towering high above Sölden: hiking routes and mountain biking trails lead straight through the independent hamlet of Hochsölden, connecting it easily with high-altitude huts and mountain pastures. In and around the small mountain village, cozy sun terraces offer mouth-watering Alpine snacks plus uninterrupted panoramic views of pure nature. Although the big ski hotels are closed in the summer months, nice guesthouses and apartments look forward to giving a warm welcome to hikers - in the most exclusive neighborhood of forests and meadows.

Zwieselstein, 1472 m

Starting point of solid character

The contemplative village occupies the only possible spot in the narrow valley basin located about 3 km south of Sölden. Here the main valley "forks off" and the original Ötztal character can be experienced close by. Many historical buildings and a small church dating back to 1747 invite to awe-inspiring walks through the village. Although its pleasant and quiet location, Zwieselstein makes an ideal holiday base right between Sölden, Obergurgl-Hochgurgl and Vent: guests enjoy a change of scenery within short driving distance.

Zwieselstein itself is a popular starting point for shorter hikes or day tours to serviced huts and pasture inns. Also mountain bikers and long-distance hikers (e.g. Ötztaler Urweg or E5 European long-distance hiking trail) restore their energy during a stopover in Zwieselstein before they set out for new adventures.

Vent, 1900 m

Mountaineering village

The idyllic 150-soul village at the southern end of Ötztal has a very famous landmark and local mountain: Wildspitze peak at impressive 3774 meters. The history of the village is closely interwoven with the development of modern alpinism. Vent has still maintained its original, natural character and attracts a special kind of people: ambitious mountaineers who aim at many famous three thousand meter high peaks such as Wildspitze, Similaun or Weißkugel and culturally interested vacationers who deeply explore the region’s history. Excursion destinations around Vent include the primeval hunting camp at "Hohler Stein", Ötzi’s finding place and the popular Rofenhöfe farms with suspension bridge.
