COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES

For staying healthy together.

There is no better way to do so than in the crisp and clean Ötztal mountain air amidst some 250 peaks higher than three thousand meters. Skiing will be a little different this season. Nevertheless, here in scenic Ötztal we benefit from the extensive range of slopes spread over the 65 km long Alpine valley. The huge choice of possibilities on the mountain and the infinite number of activities away from the slopes make winter dreams come true. For example, the Ötztal Super Skipass comprising six ski areas, 363 slope kilometers and 90 mountain lifts, not only offers heaps of skiing fun but also sufficient safety distance. As a result, we are more than convinced that you will enjoy wonderful and relaxing holidays here with us in Ötztal this winter.

COVID-19 preventive measures for the Sölden Ski Area:

With a view to the coming winter season and the upcoming challenges regarding the spread of COVID-19, Bergbahnen Sölden Mountain Lifts have developed a comprehensive package of preventive measures to ensure the health and safety of our guests, employees and the local population.

General informations

  • Within the scope of the existing possibilities we take measures to counteract the spread of COVID-19 in the best possible way and thus contribute to the protection of our guests and employees.
The legal requirements are minimum requirements.
In addition, we are constantly working on taking further effective measures.
  • At Bergbahnen Sölden, several employees are trained as COVID-19 officers, who are also highly skilled in dealing with suspicious cases.
  • Our 2 main feeder lifts to the ski area - Giggijochbahn (4,500 pers./h), Gaislachkoglbahn (3,600 pers./h) - are among the most powerful feeder lifts worldwide.
Both lifts start their daily service already at 08.00 am.
  • The Sölden ski area extends over 430 hectares of slopes, the average available ski area per skier is about 400 m² or there are only 25 skiers per hectare.
  • None of our lifts runs longer than the critical 15 minutes. The ascents with the lifts only take between 2 and 10 minutes. These short travel times reduce the risk of infection significantly.
  • We leave it up to you to decide whether you want to enter a cabin where there are already people.
  • All our employees with customer contact wear mouth and nose protection at all times during their working hours.
  • We recommend to guests and staff members to install the anonymous Stop Corona app of the Austrian Federal Government.

  • Nose and mouth cover
Please always carry a nose-mouth cover (NMC) with you and use it if the required minimum distance of 1 meter from other people cannot be maintained.
In principle, wearing a NMC (multifunctional cloth, protective mask, ...) is mandatory in all indoor rooms. A NMC must be used in the following areas:
    • At all ski pass offices and cash desks of Bergbahnen Sölden
    • In the access/waiting area of mountain lifts
    • In the entire station, boarding & exit area as well as during lift rides (mountain gondola/chairlift, lifts, T-bar lifts)
    • When using moving carpets (in the practicing area)
    • In all mountain restaurant and gastronomy areas (NMC is not required at the tables)
    • When using the sanitary facilities
    • In the skibus & at the skibus stop

  • Mountain lift operation
As in all public transport facilities, it is mandatory to wear a NMC in mountain gondola cabins and when using chairlifts or T-bar lifts.
As cable cars and chairlifts are means of public transport, which can run at full capacity, there are no limitations on the number of individuals in one gondola/ chairlift by law.
However, Bergbahnen Sölden do not focus to run at full capacity.  Groups or families belonging together may of course travel in one gondola.
We leave it up to you to decide whether you want to enter a cabin where there are already people.
All gondolas are regularly ventilated and disinfected.
Each ride takes less than 15 minutes, which is below the critical threshold. To keep the time travelling as short as possible, all cable cars run at an increased speed.
It is recommended to open the windows of the gondola cabins so that they are well ventilated during the lift ride.

  • Skipass offices
It is mandatory to wear a NMC at all skipass desks. Please also keep a minimum distance of 1 meter from other people.

  • Waiting areas of ski lifts
It is compulsory to wear a NMC in the waiting areas of all mountain lifts. If possible, please keep a minimum distance of 1 meter from other people.

  • Sanitary facilities
A NMC must also be used on the way to the WC and when using the toilet facilities. Please also keep a minimum distance of 1 meter from other people.
Sufficient disinfection stations are available in all sanitary facilities.

  • Restaurants with table service | Self-service restaurants
In all restaurants, the legally decreed distance between tables is observed or appropriate separating devices (e.g. glass panels) have been installed.
The NMC must be used when entering the restaurant until you reach your table, and also on the way to the toilet. No NMC is required when sitting at the tables.
In the self-service restaurants, the hygiene measures in the free-flow areas were adapted and expanded. The NMC must also be used in the entire free-flow area.
We also offer all of our menus/drink menus online. They can be called up via our iSki Sölden App, our website or via QR code directly in the mountain restaurants.

  • Umbrella bars
There will be no après-ski in the habitual way at the umbrella bars operated by the mountain lifts. The bars are run as a coffee lounge with table service, where only guests with a seat are served. The legally decreed distance between tables is observed. Music in the restaurants and bars operated by the mountain lifts will only be subtle background sound; après-ski atmosphere will be consciously avoided.

  • Skibuses
As in all public transport facilities, it is mandatory to wear a NMC in the skibuses and at the skibus stops.

  • Events
Due to the currently applicable legal framework and restrictions, it is not possible to hold larger events. The weekly events Indian Girl (night ski show) or the Sölden/Electric Mountain Parties will not take place from the current point of view. The Electric Mountain Festival (08 + 09 April 2021) and Hannibal (16 April 2021) are currently still open and also depend on the legal framework. More detailed information will be available in good time.
The weekly night skiing including tobogganing (without show), Tischlein Deck Dich (The Wising Table), ELEMENTS by night and Summit Dinner will take place as planned.

  • Disinfection, cleaning
Please follow the general hygiene rules and wash your hands regularly. A sufficient number of disinfectant dispensers will be made available.
The cabins on the mountain gondolas can be perfectly ventilated by opening the cabin windows during the entire lift ride. Our employees ensure that the windows of empty cabins are kept open.
Disinfection measures are also carried out at regular intervals in our toilet facilities and elevator cabins. Bergbahnen Sölden pay maximum attention to thorough cleaning/disinfection activities, such as cleaning or disinfecting tables/bar areas in the mountain restaurants as well as handrails, door handles and sanitary facilities.

  • General information
Please do not leave your used protective mask or handkerchiefs in the mountain lift cabins, but dispose of them properly in the garbage bins provided.
Please always observe the recommendations and guidelines and follow the instructions given by our employees, especially those relating to the currently applicable hygiene regulations.
Please show personal responsibility and protect your health as well as the health of all people around you.

  • KEEP ENOUGH DISTANCE
An nose and mouth cover is compulsory wherever the minimum distance cannot be maintained
  • WEAR NOSE AND MOUTH COVER
Nose and mouth cover is mandatory in all indoor areas; if necessary, a sneeze guard provides additional protection. Nose and mouth cover is compulsory for parents and ski instructors in the children's area.
  • DISINFECTION
Sufficient disinfection stations are available in all indoor rooms, all surfaces are thoroughly disinfected several times a day.
  • ONLINE BOOKING

The ski schools are offering flexible cancellation conditions this year. The ski courses can often be canceled free of charge up to 7 days prior to arrival.

Rodeln 007 ELEMENTS Aqua DomeIn addition to active snow sports, whether on or off the groomed slopes, there are countless other leisure activities in Ötztal. Tobogganing, ice skating, snowshoe hiking, cross-country skiing - all of this takes place in the open air and can therefore be used individually without specific safety precautions.

Are you taking a break to experience our ultimate WINTER HIGHLIGHTS?

Be it the Top Mountain Motorcycles Museum, 007 ELEMENTS James Bond Adventure World, Nature Park House or WIDI's 5D Movie Shuttle, the general distance and hygiene guidelines apply everywhere. A nose and mouth cover must be used in all indoor rooms and areas.

Both Aqua Dome and Freizeit Arena also offer unrivaled relaxation. Please pay attention to the prescribed guidelines on hygiene and distance. Please wear a nose and mouth cover.

  • The rental equipment is regularly disinfected and a disinfection protocol is kept.
  • Plexiglas walls or other mechanical protective devices are installed at the fitting rooms and at the check-in. Thus the distance can be maintained at all times.

Après Ski Après-ski will take place a little differently than usual in the 2020/21 winter season. Drinks and food may only be consumed while sitting, both indoors and outdoors. Standing closely together or dancing are therefore avoided. Musical entertainment is planned in the form of background music. Each guest is registered via QR code or registration sheet in order to be able to quickly start the contact tracing chain in the event of a suspected Covid-19 case. Nothing stands in the way of a jovial get-together with family and friends to review the skiing day, a bottle of fine wine or a refreshing beer still taste good.

NightlifeNight gastronomy will be very different in winter 2020/21. Unfortunately, it is no longer allowed to dance in the bars, pubs and discos. Nevertheless, the cozy sitting areas and lounges invite you to linger, meet new people and have a drink. At the moment, closing time is 10.00 pm according to the current decree of the federal government. Each guest is registered via QR code or registration sheet in order to be able to quickly start the contact tracing chain in the event of a suspected Covid-19 case.

Since 19 October 2020, there has been a mandatory registration for all gastronomic businesses in Tirol. When entering the restaurant, café, ski hut, après-ski location or nightclub, nose and mouth cover must be used and guests are asked to provide their personal data. First name, last name, number of people and a contact option (telephone number) are requested. Data is collected using a QR code or printed data sheet that must be filled out. Data will be made available to the health authorities in the event of a suspected Covid-19 case. With the help of the so-called contact tracing all people who have come in contact with the suspected case can be identified quickly. The health authority is supported in the way that other infected people can be isolated swiftly.

EventsThe weekly Night Skiing & Night Tobogganing (without show), The Wishing Table, ELEMENTS by night and Summit Dinner at the ice Q in Sölden will take place as planned.

The weekly events Indian Girl (Night Ski Show) and Sölden Parties/Electric Mountain Parties cannot take place this season due to the special situation.

We will do our best to hold the events in Sölden - Electric Mountain Festival (08 April 2021) and Hannibal (16 April 2021) - provided that the legal framework and the general situation will allow it.

All details about other planned events.
