Ski holidays Tyrol

Your well-deserved break in the snow

Are you planning a ski vacation in Tirol? Then you should also include Sölden, located at the heart of Ötztal, in your winter holiday planning! Because Sölden offers everything that makes a skier’s and snowboarder’s heart beat faster. It’s not without reason that the popular winter sports resort, which is known far beyond the country's borders, has chosen the slogan “Heartbeat of the Alps”.

Snow-sure Sölden

During your ski holidays in Tirol, more precisely in Sölden, you will find the very best conditions for a first-class winter vacation. Thanks to the high Alpine location of the ski area, stretching from 1350 to over 3340 meters above sea level. And right in-between: XXL skiing pleasure! From the end of September (until the beginning of May) the first skiing fans can hit the varied slopes of Sölden. Wait a minute, skiing at the end of September - how does that work?

The two glaciers of Sölden, namely Rettenbachferner and Tiefenbachferner, as well as the most modern snowmaking systems make it possible. Also the global elite of the Alpine Ski World Cup takes advantage of the superb conditions as the season’s first ski races are always held in Sölden in October.

Sölden accommodates a number of things

The 144 kilometers of perfectly groomed slopes offer varied difficulty levels for beginners, advanced and long-time skiers or snowboarders. If classic slopes seem too boring to you (which we do not assume in Sölden), there are many exciting ski challenges for young and old spread across the ski area.

There are, for example, the two fun slopes with waves and banked turns that promise ultimate fun for all the family. Or the Area 47 Snow Park, where freestylers will find happiness on boxes, rails and jumps (of different sizes). If you prefer to ski in open terrain and away from the groomed slopes, make sure you have the right equipment and checked the latest avalanche report: You will find countless freeride options at Giggijoch and Gaislachkogl. Just in case you need a little break from skiing or snowboarding, simply enjoy a rest stop at one of the quaint huts and restaurants.

Skiing. And what else?

Unforgettable ski holidays in Tirol now include more than just taking the mountain lift, then skiing downhill and repeating the game. Sölden is not just (ski) sport, Sölden is also entertainment. The best entertainment, not only for movie buffs, can be experienced at the world’s unique 007 ELEMENTS James Bond Adventure World at Gaislachkogl peak, which is over 3000 meters high. In 2015, action scenes of the 24th James Bond film "Spectre" were shot in Sölden. Nine exhibition halls, mostly underground, give an insight into the world of the British secret agent and show how the filming, for example on Sölden's glacier road, was carried out.

Indulge into 007 ELEMENTS

Fun for all the family is also guaranteed on the new Sölden-Gaislachkogl toboggan run, which can be easily reached by mountain gondola. With a length of about 7.3 kilometers, it is one of the longest toboggan runs in Austria. Special tip: The route is perfectly illuminated every Wednesday evening when night tobogganing is on the program. On your toboggan, get set, go!
