The hiking paradise of Sölden also has a marvelous winter season: 49.5 km of cleared, signposted winter hiking trails take walkers straight through snow-covered forests, white meadows and along Ötztaler Ache mountain brook. Adventure-seeking vacationers grab their snowshoes and listen to the crunching snow under their feet while lively Sölden disappears in the background. Trudging through the untouched white either on your own or accompanied by a local guide you will take new insights on the way to rustic mountain huts.
Niederthai is conveniently located at the entrance to Horlachtal, a high Alpine side valley of the Ötztal. Thanks to its secluded location this village of awesome beauty has maintained its authentic charm. Niederthai's most spectacular attraction are the rushing mountain waters of the Stuiben Falls. This family loop tour with trailhead in Niederthai leads past the waterfall.
Also young mountain bike fans have plenty of fun on this 7 kilometer long asphalt route featuring only 185 meters of altitude gain. After a loop across the valley basin of Niederthai you start already heading towards the waterfall. Soon you can listen to the rushing mountain waters coming down from the glacier fields of Zwieselbachferner and Grastalferner. Scenic Horlachbach brook has a total falling height of 150 meters.
A truly unique nature spectacle can be experienced every Wednesday night when the waterfall is floodlit! At the end of the tour you bike to the hamlet of Bichl (refreshment stop) before you return to Niederthai.
