Snowshoe hiking & winter walking

Step by step towards a holistic experience

The hiking paradise of Sölden also has a marvelous winter season: 49.5 km of cleared, signposted winter hiking trails take walkers straight through snow-covered forests, white meadows and along Ötztaler Ache mountain brook. Adventure-seeking vacationers grab their snowshoes and listen to the crunching snow under their feet while lively Sölden disappears in the background. Trudging  through the untouched white either on your own or accompanied by a local guide you will take new insights on the way to rustic mountain huts.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the Umhausen - Neudorf car park, you can walk comfortably across the wide forest trail to the junction of Fundus Valley (left) and Leierstal (right). Continue on the right and after about 2.5 walking hours you reach the Vordere Leierstalalm (farmed). From there, continue along the road for approx. 700 m, before turning left into the hiking trail. This leads now over some steeper terrain up, one is rewarded with a wonderful prospect. The lake is very worth seeing, right behind the hut.
