Snowshoe hiking & winter walking

Step by step towards a holistic experience

The hiking paradise of Sölden also has a marvelous winter season: 49.5 km of cleared, signposted winter hiking trails take walkers straight through snow-covered forests, white meadows and along Ötztaler Ache mountain brook. Adventure-seeking vacationers grab their snowshoes and listen to the crunching snow under their feet while lively Sölden disappears in the background. Trudging  through the untouched white either on your own or accompanied by a local guide you will take new insights on the way to rustic mountain huts.

The black Traien Trail and all its single sections ranks among the longest routes within the whole BIKE REPUBLIC SÖLDEN. Starting next to Sonnblick mountain restaurant in Hochsölden it takes you down to the valley floor. Some hundred meters before the trail ends, there is a fork-off towards the hamlet of Grünwald or the hamlet of See.

A very flowing trail along the slope ridge where you should watch out for the grazing cows! The technically most challenging part with narrow hairpin turns, gutters and deeply rutted sections can be found at the very end. Caution: about 500 meters of the trail lead along the federal Hochsölden road which is not highly trafficked. The second part of the flow trail forks-off to the left, offering lovely panoramic spots. Some hundred meters before the trail ends, there is a fork-off towards the hamlet of Grünwald or the hamlet of See. Fromm See you reach the center of Sölden on a descending asphalt road.

Author’s recommendation

At the end of the trail you follow a short transfer route towards Kreuzweg Trail (6015) which takes you down to the valley floor safely.
