The hiking paradise of Sölden also has a marvelous winter season: 49.5 km of cleared, signposted winter hiking trails take walkers straight through snow-covered forests, white meadows and along Ötztaler Ache mountain brook. Adventure-seeking vacationers grab their snowshoes and listen to the crunching snow under their feet while lively Sölden disappears in the background. Trudging  through the untouched white either on your own or accompanied by a local guide you will take new insights on the way to rustic mountain huts.

15 km long Enduro Route right across the giant Sölden Ski Area, featuring about 760 altitude meters. The trail travels past lovely mountain huts and offers fabulous downhill biking.

From Freizeit Arena you follow the federal road towards the upper valley, turn right at the BP gas station after approx. 1 km. The climbing road takes you through the hamlets of Außerwald and Innerwald to the Glacier Road. Then continue on the road to Hochsölden. Once arrived in Hochsölden, you can enjoy a refreshing break at the wonderful sun terrace of Sonnblick Restaurant. Via Rettenbachalm Trail (675) to the fork-off into Ollweite Line (6010) which you follow until its end. On Ollweite Line you'll find two S-bends where good biking techniques are absolutely required. Later you reach Hühnersteign mountain inn - a fabulous rest stop point. Continue on the ski trail until the base station of Langegg mountain lift, where you access Ohn Line (6007).At the end of Ohn Line you lead directly into Broate Line down to the village of Sölden. At the end you take the asphalt road back to Sölden.

Safety information

Bikers should bypass the hiking trail that forks-off from Ollweite Line right above Hühnersteign mountain hut. This is a trail reserved to walkers only.

Plödern Trail (671) and Rettenbachalm Trail (675) are Shared Trails used by many hikers and bikers. Please note - Plödern Trail (671) crisscrosses the Glacier Road twice!

Equipment

Appropriate Equipment Rules! We strongly recommend to wear protective bike gear (knee and elbow pads, helmet, back protector, ...) on all lines, trails, enduro tracks and mountain bike routes within the BIKE REPUBLIC SÖLDEN. Enter the Republic only with a bike that meets current quality standards.

Arriving by Train

Enjoy a comfortable and relaxing train ride to the train station in Ötztal Bahnhof. The public bus lines to all holiday resorts in the valley (direction Obergurgl) leave directly in front of the train station. The bus ride to Sölden takes about 1 – 1.5 hours.

Sölden is located in the West of Austria, more exactly in the Province of TIROL. It nestles amidst the ÖTZTAL Valley, a south-facing side valley of the Inntal.

Best travel route from the West:

From Vorarlberg to Tirol via Arlberg Pass or through Arlberg Tunnel (S 16 Federal Road) - direction Landeck - change to A 12 Autobahn (direction Innsbruck) - exit: Ötztal after driving through Roppener Tunnel - on B 186 Federal Road (35 km) to Sölden

From the North:

- Bad Tölz - Achen Pass - B 181 Federal Road - Jenbach - A 12 Autobahn towards Innsbruck (direction Bregenz) - exit: Ötztal - B 186 Federal Road (35 km) to Sölden

- Pfronten - Reutte - Fernpass - Imst - A 12 Autobahn (direction Innsbruck) - exit: Ötztal after driving through Roppener Tunnel or on B 171 Federal Road to Ötztal (no Vignette toll-sticker required!) - B 186 Federal Road (35 km) to Sölden

- Garmisch Partenkirchen - Ehrwald - Lermoos - Fernpass - Imst - A 12 Autobahn (direction Innsbruck) – exit: Ötztal after driving through Roppener Tunnel or on B 171 Federal Road to Ötztal (no Vignette toll-sticker required!) - B 186 Federal Road (35 km) to Sölden

From Bozen/Bolzano towards Brenner Pass (toll road) – on Brenner Autobahn via Schönberg toll station (direction Innsbruck) to Innsbruck - then change to A 12 Autobahn (direction Bregenz) – exit: Ötztal - B 186 Federal Road (35 km) to Sölden

Parking

A few parking lots are available at the Glacier Road toll station, not far from the access point of Rettenbachalm Trail.

We recommend that you leave your car at the spacious Giggijoch or Gaislachkogl parking houses!

There are ample parking areas and covered parking garages at the base stations of Gaislachkogl and Giggijoch Mountain Gondolas. Parking is free of charge between 8.00 am and 7.00 pm!

Night-time parking of motor cars is subject to a charge and allowed only in the parking garage next to Gaislachkogl Mountain Gondola:
