Would you like some facts and figures? Ok, let's go: 144 varied slope kilometers await skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels. Thanks to the high altitude of the ski area, stretching from 1350 to 3340 meters above sea level, snow is always guaranteed. The two feeder gondola lifts of Gaislachkogl and Giggijoch are currently among the most powerful of their kind and can reach an hourly capacity of about 8100 people.

BIG3: Unique in Austria

The snow-covered slopes of the BIG3 - Gaislachkogl (3058 m), Tiefenbachkogl (3250 m) and Schwarze Schneide (3340 m) - fulfill all winter sports desires, regardless of whether you are a beginner, professional or freerider. This makes Sölden the only ski area in Austria to have three 3000 meter high peaks easily accessible by mountain lift. Once at the top, it’s worth taking off your skis to enjoy the view from spectacularly staged vista platforms. Additionally, the Sölden ski area boasts another record: Covering a length of over 15 kilometers, the top-to-bottom ski run from Schwarze Schneide is the longest of its kind in Austria. The route is not too demanding from a technical point of view and can therefore be mastered by experienced skiers or snowboarders. And yet: Those who have reached the valley floor know what they have achieved.

Crossing the ski tunnel

Two perfectly developed glaciers that can be found in the Sölden ski area make glacier skiing possible from late September to late April or early May. If you want to get from Rettenbach Glacier to Tiefenbach Glacier, you don't even have to take off your skis as both ski mountains are connected by a spectacular ski tunnel. An experience that should be on every to-do list of a ski holiday in Sölden. Only in Sölden an Austrian ski vacation can be so spectacular!

Because every skiing day also must come to an end and your body simply needs a break after endless carving turns, Sölden offers a great side program in addition to skiing fun. Sölden guests are strongly recommended to visit the unique 007 ELEMENTS James Bond Adventure World at (or better inside) the summit of Gaislachkogl, which is over 3000 meters high. Nine mostly underground halls introduce you to the world of Her Majesty’s secret agent. How does such a unique installation find its way to a summit in Ötztal? Quite simply: In 2015, Sölden was the filming location for the James Bond movie “Spectre”. Also the eye-catching architectural masterpiece of the ice Q gourmet restaurant is located at Gaislachkogl peak.
