Ötztaler Gletscherstraße

Glacier road, 1.377 - 2.800 m

The 15 km long Ötztaler Glacier road is one of the highest roads in the Eastern Alps, connecting Sölden (1,377 m) with the glacier ski regions in Rettenbach- and the Tiefenbach glaciers at over 2,800 m. Every curve of the road offers a new breathtaking view. The glacier tunnel is (tunnel patron Rosi Mittermaier) the highest road tunnel in the Alps, and connects both ski regions at an altitude of 2.800 metres and a length of 1,7 km. Snow chains in winter months are advisable, as it can snow quite unexpectedly in these high alpine climates. Toll: This in only exacted from non-skiers! All skiers with a valid ski ticket may use the road for free!
