Sölden is Austria's first resort offering no less than three mountain peaks beyond 3,000 m- called the BIG 3 - which are easily accessible by ski lifts. We talk about three peaks:

  • Gaislachkogl (3,048 m)
  • Tiefenbachkogl (3,250 m) and
  • Schwarze Schneide (3,340 m)

Right next to the top station of the Gaislachkoglbahn mountain gondola you find a light construction made of glass and steel - the new panorama restaurant on Gaislachkogl. On its roof visitors enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Alpine scenery. The rooftop terrace is connected to Gaislachkogl peak by a suspension bridge.

A 15-meter-high pyramid marks the ultimate adventure spot featuring an outstanding rock path covered in glass, suspended from steel cables. The platform towers 20 meters above a giant glacier snout and offers an unforgettable view of the surrounding mountains and glittering peaks - e.g. Wildspitze, Tirol's highest mountain.

A good physical shape is required for all those wanting to explore the platform on Schwarze Schneide located approx. 90 meters (20-minute walk) above the gondola's top terminal at the elevation of 3,340 m above sea level. Enjoy the stunning views and vistas comprising an infinite number of 3,000 meter high mountain peaks plus a spectacular 360 degree panorama (over 100km) from the Dolomites in the South to the Zugspitze peak in the North.

BIG3 is Sölden's new highlight and a perfect example for unlimited adventure holidays in the mountains. Winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy a great sightseeing tour and a challenging experience at the same time. Expert skiers are invited to conquer the BIG3 mountains in only one day. The route covers a distance of some 50 kilometers.


The BIG 3 Rally starts at the base terminal of Giggijoch gondola which takes the skier up to Giggijoch area where the Golden Gate to the Glacier feeder lifts continue on to Rettenbach glacier and the first BIG 3 summit, Schwarze Schneide (3340 m). Then skiers continue towards Tiefenbach glacier and the second BIG 3 experience on Tiefenbachkogl (3250 m). From Rettenbach glacier you can ski the breathtaking route through Rettenbachtal valley down to the base terminal of Gaislachkogl gondola which whisks you up to the third BIG 3 platform on Gaislachkogl (3058 m). Stunning views are guaranteed from the rooftop terrace in the restaurant. Then the rally continues via Heidebahn chair lift down to the valley (Gaislachkoglbahn). The route covers a distance of about 50 kilometers, but also offers one of Europe's most overwhelming 360° panorama views. Experienced skiers or snowboarders can do the entire round in about 4 hours.
