Experience trails in the Umhausen valley basin

Walk, read, discover, and marvel. A complete program for body and mind is offered by the newly designed trail network “Umhausen rund um”. Three forest trails run around the village at an altitude of 1050 m: the Waalweg, the Steppsteig, and the Wienersteig. Information boards, viewing platforms, a nature trail, and playgrounds invite you to linger. A nature and cultural experience trail network for strolling, hiking, and enjoying around and in Umhausen.

Waalweg: Learn about the centuries-old use of water and the history of Umhausen. Steppsteig: Learn more about the forest and its flora as well as a cultural peculiarity. Wienersteig: This path covers the legendary Hirschberg and dealing with natural hazards.

Along the Steppsteig and Waalweg, there is also a nature trail. Info: The “Umhausen rund UM” trail network is accessible at multiple points: Parking lot Bischoffsplatz at the southern edge of the village: Entry: Past the Kneipp facility to the Waalweg. Parking lot “Mure” north of the parish church of Umhausen. Entry: 15 minutes on foot along the road towards Farst. Wienersteig junction.

Public transit

Travel comfortably and safely by train to the Ötztal train station. The final stop or exit point is ÖTZTAL station. Afterwards, you can conveniently and quickly travel through the entire valley to your desired destination using public transport or local taxi companies.

Getting there

Driving into the ÖTZTAL. Located in Tyrol, the Ötztal branches southward as the longest side valley of the Eastern Alps. Traveling by car leads visitors through the Inn valley to the entrance of the valley and further along the Ötztal. In addition to the toll motorway, country roads can also be used.
