HUMAN RACE Exhibition
Art on the glacier
Amidst Sölden's spectacular glacier scenery at over 2,600 meters above sea level, Tirolean photo artist Alexander Maria Lohmann created the first phase of his long-term art project HUMAN RACE - which is intended as a memorial for the future of humanity. The entire exhibition centers on seven monumental works up to 3.5 meters high, addressing topics such as climate crisis, species extinction and artificial intelligence. The exhibition is freely accessible and open to the public until summer 2026.
The artworks are flanked by 13 human silhouettes placed between the images. You can see yourself reflected in the silhouettes as part of the problem and perhaps also part of the solution.
During the construction phase, 20 children from Obergurgl and Sölden worked together with the artist to design the back side of the works. Lohmann wants to demonstrate that the project concerns children and that they are the ones who will have to live with the consequences of today's actions.
