Description

The ideal after-work round in the surroundings of Sölden.

Map & elevation profile

The ideal after-work round in the surroundings of Sölden.

The start and end point of the Kaiserwald mountain bike tour is the Freizeit Arena in the center of Sölden. Facing the Freizeit Arena, start to the left and follow the Ötztal Cycle Path 11 to the roundabout. Here, take Kaiserwaldstraße to the right uphill. The 129 meters of elevation are covered almost in one go, first on a paved road to Höfle and then on a gravel road through the forest. The mountain bike tour ends in front of a narrow wooden bridge by a small waterfall and returns on the same path back to the Freizeit Arena.

For enduro fans: At the end of the gravel road, the red trail "Kaiser Trail" begins. However, this should only be explored by experienced bikers as it is a technically demanding singletrack. Following the singletrack, after crossing the Kehlerbach, you reach the Aschbach district Brand. The route goes downhill along Im Brand to the federal road B186, from where it again follows the Ötztal Cycle Path downstream to the starting point at Freizeit Arena Sölden.

Author's tip

The route combines well with the Forstweg Rechenau (649).

The starting point of this bike route is the Freizeit Arena in Sölden. From there, take the first street on the right and follow the Ötztal Cycle Path downhill. You will pass the pavilion and the playground "Waldele". The path continues through the hamlets of Rechenau and Schmiedhof. Always follow the paved road east of the Ötztaler Ache. After about 2 km, you reach the hamlet of Kaisers. At the fork, turn right and follow Kaiserstraße uphill towards Höfle. With a moderate incline, you slowly leave the last houses behind. Here, it is worth making a short stop to enjoy a unique view of Sölden. At the end of Höfle, turn left onto a gravel road. You immediately cross the Wütenbach and ride through woodland. The route offers a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains. At the end of the gravel road, directly at the Atterbach, the Kaiser Trail singletrack (698) begins. Only experienced bikers should take this trail. The return path of the Kaiserwald bike route goes at the end of the singletrack via Aschbach back along the Ötztal Cycle Path to Sölden.
