Description
Majestically perched above the Windachtal in the Stubai Alps, the Siegerland Hut is located at 2,710 meters – not far from the border to South Tyrol. Many different routes lead to the Siegerland Hut. The 3000-meter peaks in the hut's vicinity, categorized as "moderate" to "exposed" with rock and ice, invite thrilling climbs and tours.
The "Siegerland Hut" was built in 1928/29 and inaugurated in 1930. It is owned by the Siegerland section of the German Alpine Club. The building complex has always been well maintained. Every year, the section organizes a work session where members passionately renovate and build. The hut is a shelter of category I. The cozy rooms and the magnificent sunsets invite overnight stays. Accommodation is available in 36 beds in the rooms. Additionally, there are ten mattress spaces in the dormitory. Cozy warmth comes from the tiled stove in the spacious dining area.
Visitors are guaranteed a hut experience they will not forget: mountain peaks, hospitality, and open-mindedness. Here, everyone should feel comfortable, and everyone is welcome! The tenant operators, Luis Schneider and Peter Weiger, offer an honest alpine cuisine with regional ingredients. Nowhere do Kaiserschmarren and Kaspressknödel taste better than at this altitude.
Dogs are warmly welcome. Ideally, their owners should inform us briefly. Hut dog Spax, a young Golden Retriever, is just as happy as we are to have friendly and nice company. In the adjacent building of the Siegerland Hut, there is even a special dog room, which can be reserved regularly.
