Connecting pistes
A bond for the skier's life: by connecting ski pistes 7 and 22, Bergbahnen Sölden lift company has succeeded in "bridging the gap" that offers several quality advantages for all winter sports enthusiasts. From November 2025, it will be much easier to change between the ski mountains of Gaislachkogl and Giggijoch in a relaxed way - even on stormy days when high-altitude lifts may be closed due to inclement weather.
Your advantages:
- All four key valley points (Gaislachkogl base station, Sölden village center, Postplatz Sölden, Giggijoch base station) can be reached directly and comfortably on skis.
- Steep sections of the top-to-bottom ski runs 7 and 22 can be bypassed (creating a continuous blue slope from Hochsölden to Grünwald).
- Additional slope area
- Independent of weather conditions: if the lifts at higher altitude have to close on days with strong winds, you can still ski between Gaislachkogl and Giggijoch - creating a small ski area in itself.
- Reduction in local (skibus) traffic
- Faster clearing of the ski area
Project facts:
- Construction period: October 2024 – November 2025
- Additional slope area: 2.13 hectares
- Slope length: 1,800 m
- New snowmaking system: 2,750 m
- New snowmaking devices: 32
- Slope gradient: approx. 10%
- Fall protection, safety nets: 1,500 m
Solar power plant on the glacier
Recharge your batteries: this is what you do while skiing in Sölden. And this is what our futuristic-looking "power plant forest" on Tiefenbach Glacier does in an ecologically sustainable way. You may have already noticed the vertically mounted photovoltaic modules in a tree-like design, as test operations have been running since 2023.
And it has been so successful that HELIOPLANT's innovative system for generating solar energy will be gradually expanded in the coming years. The solution, being used for the first time in Austria, promises up to 40% higher yield and greater profitability in alpine terrain. Thanks to their vertical design, the modules stay free of snow and can withstand extreme wind gusts while blending harmoniously into the alpine landscape. Starting in autumn 2025, Tiefenbach Glacier will be "reforested".
new snow guns
Just in case Mother Nature takes a creative break, 56 new snowmaking devices will be on hand in the future, ensuring you can always enjoy your turns on immaculate ski slopes. This investment represents the second largest purchase of snowmaking equipment in the history of Bergbahnen Sölden lift company.
